Fitting and sizing information

Is the WristWidget® One-Size-Fits-All?
For the most part,.. yes! The WristWidget® can be worn on left and right wrists. There is a small percentage of the population that has an unusually small wrist. If your wrist is smaller than 10cm, you might find that it will slip. The fit actually has more to do with the depth of your wrist crease than the circumference. If it slips, you can find a solution over here: https://bit.ly/ww-b-slip.

The WristWidget can be worn on left and right wrists.

FAQ

WRISTWIDGET

Is the WristWidget One-Size-Fits-All?

For the most part,.. yes! The WristWidget® can be worn on left and right wrists. There is a small percentage of the population that has an unusually small wrist. If your wrist is smaller than 10cm, you might find that it will slip. The fit actually has more to do with the depth of your wrist crease than the circumference. If it slips, you can find a solution over here: https://bit.ly/ww-b-slip.

How tight should it be?

It takes about a week to figure out what the tension should be for your injury. It should be snug at night and tight with heavier activities. For instance, if your weight bearing tolerance without the WristWidget is only 13 kg and you are performing a task which requires 26 kg of force, the WristWidget® needs to be tight. When you are done with the task, you will need to adjust it to a lighter tension. The microadjustment function of the WristWidget is essential to ensure that you can tolerate it for up to 12 weeks.

Can I wear it in the water?

Yes! It is made to provide continuous support - even in the water.

How long does the WristWidget® last?

It is made to last for the entire length of your recovery which can be up to 4 months. It is designed to be used in the water and last a long time. The loop and hook is cut to a length to ensure that it lasts long.

What are WristWidget made of?

Special cotton for the skin, and nylon loop and hook... That’s it! Free of latex and harsh adhesive chemicals.

Can I continue athletic activities with the WristWidget?

In general, if your weight bearing tolerance is over 29kg, you are safe to perform heavier tasks with the WristWidget® without re-injury. Tasks which are risky are: end range rotation with weight and weight bearing: bicep curls with palm up and over 2kg of weight; pull ups with palms facing you; weight lifting over your current weight bearing tolerance etc.

How do I know that the WristWidget will help me?

Don’t worry- you will know. Every person who has the TFCC injury puts it on and KNOWS. If you put it on and it hurts- it is not for you. The WristWidget® is only appropriate for those with pain with weight bearing and show an immediate change in weight bearing tolerance with it on.

Warranty

The WristWidget has a 100% satisfaction guarantee warranty. If the WristWidget is not working for you or supplying relief, please let us know and we’ll assist you promptly with a refund, return, or exchange. No questions asked.

Case study: WristWidget to heal TFCC Injury

WristWidget has shown concrete evidence to heal TFCC injuries as a non-invasive treatment. According to a case study by Susan J. Barlow at the University of Tennessee, WristWidget tends to heal Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex tears.
As there was no treatment other than surgery following a failed conservative management of TFCC tear. The purpose of this study was to devise a non-surgical intervention for triangular fibrocartilage complex tear.A patient with TFCC tear confirmed by MRI was consented to wear the novel brace (WristWidget) for 12 weeks after a failed conservative management. The weight-bearing capacity of the hand was monitored by the weight bearing test after every 02 weeks. Results of the study showed an immediate increase in the weight-bearing capacity of the affected wrist after donning the brace. By donning the WristWidget for 12 weeks the weight-bearing tolerance of the respective wrist returned to normal. These improvements remain evident even after 01 years in the follow-up appointment.

HOOK SPLINT

Can I use the HOOK SPLINT RMO for sagittal band injuries?

Absolutely!  Keep the injured finger in relative extension.

Can I use the HOOK SPLINT RMO to protect extensor tendon repairs?

Yes! In relative extension. Evidence suggests a significantly faster recovery and return to work using a relative motion orthosis for Zone V and VI extensor tendon repairs. (Merritt et al. Plastic Reconstr Surg 2020 Mar;145(3):617e-628e)

Can I use the HOOK SPLINT RMO for PIP extension contractures or swan neck deformities?

Yes you can! In relative extension.

Can I use the HOOK SPLINT RMO for PIP flexion contractures or boutonniere deformity?

Definitely! Apply the splint in relative flexion.

Can I use the HOOK SPLINT RMO for Dupuytren’s Disease?

Yes. After open surgery, needle aponeurotomy, and enzyme release.  HOOK SPLINT RMO can be used functionally during the day – coupled with a traditional extension splint at night. It should be applied in relative flexion for residual PIP contracture; and in relative extension for MCP contracture.

Can I use Hook Splint RMO for general hand pain?

Yes! Isolate the finger(s) with the most pain and perform the "pencil test" by testing the finger(s) in relative extension and flexion to see if either position decreases pain.  Splint in that position.

Are there more uses for HOOK SPLINT RMO?

Many more! RMO/yoke splints have been used for extensor lag, post-traumatic PIP contractures, PIP contracture after trigger finger surgery, s/p flexor tendon repair (after tendon healing), hand pain, trigger finger non-operative management, fracture shortening in the hand, and more.

Have there been studies done on HOOK SPLINT RMO specifically?

Yes. HOOK SPLINT RMO has been studied for safety and efficacy.

How can patient’s clean their RMOs?

Hand wash your HOOK SPLINT with warm water and non-abrasive soap. Wash it and dry it gently to maintain its shape.  Hand sanitizer is safe to use on HOOK SPLINT RMO.

Are there any contraindications to using Hook Splint?

HOOK SPLINT should not be worn over pressure sores, open wounds or irritated skin. Do not wear if the band or tabs are deformed or compromised.
